Family Fun Day

As part of the Words on the Waves’ mission to foster literacy and a love of reading in the next generation of readers and writers on the Central Coast, the festival offers a range of events for children and teens. Featuring authors and illustrators Nat Amoore, Matt Cosgrove, Eva Amores and Charmaine Ledden-Lewis, there will be a host of talks and live illustration demonstrations, free craft activities, storytime, face-painting, book launches and more!

Join award-winning author Jess Black for a hands-on, beach-themed word & craft workshop based around Jess’ new picture book, The Sea in Me – the perfect new release for our beachside festival!

Suitable for ages 6+

The People You’ll Meet

Nathan Luff

Nathan Luff grew up on a farm in rural NSW as one of five boys. His colourful upbringing is often the inspiration for the stories he tells. Nathan is the author of The Nerd Herd and Family Disasters series and the middle grade novels Chicken Stu and Bad Grammar. In addition to writing children’s books, Nathan writes plays for young audiences and works part time as a primary school teacher specialising in creative writing and the performing arts. He is currently the YA and Children’s Manager for the Sydney Writers’ Festival.

Support our Festival

As a not-for-profit organisation run with a small team of volunteers, contributions of any size go a long way in enriching the creative culture of our community. The Committee includes local Peninsula residents passionate about bringing the arts to the Coast. We are seeking support from the community to help us create a wonderful and inclusive festival.
