Announcing first exciting guest for Words at Wagstaffe 2025, and limited Early Bird tickets!

Our annual literary celebration Words at Wagstaffe will take place on Saturday March 15, 2025.

Held in partnership with the clever and arty folk over at The Bouddi Society, Words at Wagstaffe is a much-loved day of deep-dive conversations with celebrated authors.

The venue is none other than the charming community hall in Wagstaffe, perched alongside the tranquil Brisbane Waters … people love it for its relaxed vibe.

The Day Pass entitles you to four (4) author talks followed by book signings. Umina Beach Book Nook will be onsite as festival bookseller.

FIRST AUTHOR REVEAL

We are delighted to share the first author joining us for Words at Wagstaffe 2025 as Walkley Awards-winning journalist and accomplished novelist, Malcolm Knox.

His latest book The First Friend counts Trent Dalton, Tim Winton and Kate McClymont as fans.

A tour de force set in 1938 Stalin Soviet Union, this chilling black comedy it is at once a satire and a thriller, a survivor’s tale in which a father has to walk a tightrope every day to save his family from a monster and a monstrous society.

“Crackling with energy, irony, wit and terror, The First Friend is a timely and cautionary reminder of the stifling, murderous logic of strong man politics.” Tim Winton
