Join our team: Project Coordinator

An annual festival with special events taking place throughout the year, Words on the Waves was founded in 2021 and is the Central Coast’s first and only writers’ festival. In 2024, it will celebrate its fourth year from May 29 – June 3 with its biggest festival yet. In addition to its existing roster of festival events, including author talks, workshops, nighttime conversations, a literary cruise and more, it is adding a new venue and program stream entitled ‘The Dip’, to be located in the parklands next to Umina Beach SLSC. In order to assist with the successful delivery of this new festival venue precinct, we are now recruiting for a Project Coordinator role. This is a paid, contract position funded in part by Create NSW, in part by Words on the Waves (hours will vary).

The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Words on the Waves Writers Festival team to deliver The Dip, a new festival venue and programming stream funded by Create NSW. This role will be responsible for driving forward the logistics and production requirements to deliver a successful two day event at the Peninsula Recreation Precinct, focused around authors and books for both adults and children. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing venue hire, equipment hire, production personnel, and other logistical considerations in the leadup to the event, as well as the smooth running of the bump in, bump out and daily events over the festival period (Friday May 30 – Monday June 3). This role will not be responsible for programming or artist liaison. This is an opportunity to contribute to a thriving not-for-profit organisation fostering a vibrant arts and literary culture on the Central Coast.
