RIPPLES

Primary Schools Program 2024

Thursday 30 May, 2024
Venue: University of Newcastle, Ourimbah Campus

The 2024 Ripples Schools Program The Ripple Effect is designed to inspire the next generation of readers, creative artists and storytellers of the Central Coast, NSW, by offering an engaging, educational and interactive day. Over three fun-filled sessions, primary students will explore the world of literature with outstanding children’s authors and illustrators.

For visiting primary school groups, we offer author and illustrator talks and author and illustrator workshops.

The author talks offer a select group of authors and illustrators space to talk about their craft and engage with the students. These sessions can cater to larger groups, from 60 to 300.

The author workshops offer a select group of authors and illustrators space to demonstrate knowledge and stimulate creativity in a more intensive, hands-on context. These sessions can cater to smaller groups, capped at 30. Our workshops will encourage young people to open their imaginations and be bold in their creative writing, and may result in a creative writing output.

All sessions are developed with connections to the NSW Curriculum. All sessions suitable for grades 3 – 6.

In 2024, the Ripples Primary Schools Program is being offered as a DAY PASS. Entry is $20 for each student and entitles entry to two (2) author or illustrator talks, plus one (1) creative writing or illustration workshop.

The Ripple Effect

The Ripple Effect represents the power of words and illustration to open up a child’s world to diversity, transformation and reflection. Through literature, children safely learn about place, possibility and people whilst creating connection to issues that resonate with them individually.
